Today I have pleasure in announcing Refresh London, a new community for London designers and developers. Refresh London takes its name from Refreshing Cities, whose mission goes something like this:

Refresh is a community of designers and developers working to refresh the creative, technical, and professional culture of New Media endeavors in their areas. Promoting design, technology, usability, and standards.

So why am I doing this? I have been in London for three years and to date have only met a handful of designers and developers. The few people that  I do meet seem somewhat relieved that there’s someone else out there like them trying to achieve similar goals. I also find there isn’t a current mechanism like it that enables people to meet new talent, make geek friends and to share skills and experience in a friendly setting – in London.

Sure there are some events and conferences to attend already, but for designers and small business owners like myself, there’s just no way to justify the expense of a ticket. And unless you’re some kind of internet rockstar, there’s little opportunity to speak, share your knowledge and contribute to the discussion.
